Support is growing in the F1 paddock and among F1 fans to get former Grand Prix doctor Sid Watkins a knighthood. He was a key influence in improving driver safety and on track medical facilitie at circuits around the world during his 25-years in F1.
Watkins already has an OBE but organisers of the 'Knight the Prof Campaign' believe he deserves greater recognition and have set up an online petition. The results will then be handed to the British government. Famous names to have already signed the petition include Damon Hill, Bernie Ecclestone, Ron Dennis, Frank Williams and Flavio Briatore.
You can sign the petition at www.sidwatkins.co.uk.
