Renault ahead compared to last year

09 February 2006

So far in pre-season testing Renault has put 15 per cent more mileage on the R26 than it had done at the same time last year with the championship-winning R25. "The only reasonable goal for a front-running Formula 1 team is zero-defect reliability," explained Renault's engine technical director Rob White.

Chief designer Tim Densham says that the team expected to have more problems than it has encountered. "We anticipated there would be lots of small problems to solve in the first weeks," he said. "We have worked on putting the solutions in place quickly. Reliability ahead of the first race is paramount."
