Designer Zender leaves Williams

Williams chief designer Joerg Zander has left the team for personal reasons, it announced today. The team stressed that his departure would not affect the development of the rather pacy current FW28 car and gave assurance it would not have a negative impact on development of the 2007 car.

The team says Zander has left due to personal reasons and he wanted to return to his native Germany with his family. The team's technical director Sam Michael says the structure at Williams can cope with his departure and there is no immediate plan to replace Zender.
