McLaren team boss Ron Dennis says his drivers have both been forced to go on heavy fuel strategies for the US Grand Prix after realising that Bridgestone has a significant tyre performance advantage over Michelin.
"Any Michelin runner accepts that things are going to be different where Bridgestone comes with a very strong tyre and we have to adapt our strategy to one that will give us the best result," Dennis said. "It's a strategy where we have to go long - just how long you'll have to wait and see in the race."
"So far this season we've pretty much enjoyed tyre superiority and this is the first one that Bridgestone really has dominated so we'll have to take the pain and see what we can do," he added.
