It was just like winning - Symonds
28 August 2006Renault engineering director Pat Symonds says Alonso's second place finish in the Turkish Grand Prix actually felt a lot like winning. Alonso finished ahead of Schumacher and managed to extend his lead in the championship to twelve points with just three races remaining.
"It was a great race and very close, I really enjoyed it and it was almost like winning," Symonds said. "I think Fernando was just keeping it under control like in Imola. He was playing with his engine all the way around the lap to adjust it and get the most out of it. I think he had it pretty much under control."
