Fernando Alonso has followed in Michael Schumacher's footsteps and bough a house in Vaud, Switzerland which will become his official residence. Switzerland has long provided an attractive tax haven for F1's best-paid stars.
The Geneva Tribune newspaper reports that Alonso signed all the necessary papers for a comparatively modest home in Mont-sur-Rolle. The house, built on a 435m2 patch of land is a far cry from Schumacher's massive mansion - currently under construction in Gland.
Mont-sur-Rolle authorities would not comment on the tax advantages for Alonso living there or whether the house is just a stop-gap solution while Alonso looks for a grander pad. Previously Alonso's main residence was in Oxford, UK, near to Renault's base at Enstone.
