Lewis Hamilton insisted he was happy to be second on the grid for the Turkish Grand Prix despite making a mistake in the final corner of his flying lap which saw Felipe Massa oust him from provisional pole by 0.044s.
"I was quite pleased with that lap," Hamilton said. "In practice we've been quick but going into qualifying the first two parts I just didn't seem to be able to put the lap together."
"The first lap in final qualifying I was fourth but after that I just hung it out," he added. "I lost a bit of time in the final corner but that was it. It's been good for us and the team to be in the top four."
Hamilton's main championship rival, team mate Fernando Alonso, ended qualifying in fourth.
