Spain may have fallen head-over-heels in love with local hero Fernando Alonso, but it was his former rival Michael Schumacher who won the country's top international sporting honour, the 2007 Principe de Asturias prize.
It was only the second time the award has been given to a Formula One driver, after Alonso won it in 2005.
