Massa: My aim is to win this race

19 October 2007

Even though his team-mate Kimi Raikkonen might be in a championship fight home boy Felipe Massa is aiming to win his home Grand Prix for the second time in a row on Sunday. The Ferrari driver realises the race will be between the McLaren drivers and Raikkonen, but according to Massa there are so many things that can happen and thus he will focus on his own performance and try to win the race.

The FIA will not allow any team orders, but obviously a slow pitstop or a little mistake could let Raikkonen slip by Massa when he would need the points to take the Formula 1 championship at Interlagos. But to do so the McLaren drivers will have to fail scoring a race win here at Interlagos. Felipe Massa realises things won't get easy for team-mate Raikkonen, but he will take it as things come and in the meantime fight for a race win.

Speaking about the situation for the upcoming race Massa said: "For sure I would be happy to see my team winning the championship but it's not a very easy race and I think it also depends on what happens in the race. It also depends on Kimi's chances of winning the championship, it also depends how these two guys in front are going to do in the race as well, so it depends on many things but for sure, I'm going to start the weekend and my aim is to try to win the race."
