Sauber impressed, tips BMW for 2008 win
10 April 2008Former BMW Sauber team owner Peter Sauber has been impressed with team's performance so far this season and has tipped the outfit to claim its maiden F1 victory in 2008.
"I was delighted for the team," Sauber said. "I reached straight for my mobile phone and sent a text to congratulate all those involved. Robert's fastest time in qualifying showed that our car can even compete with Ferrari over one lap. That was impressive, as Ferrari was the benchmark in Bahrain."
"The lead in the constructors' championship underlines the fact that we were the most consistent team at the first three races," he added.
On whether the team can achieve its objective of winning a race in 2008 he added, "At the moment it really looks as though we are not far away from achieving this objective. But we must be cautious. All the teams will arrive in Barcelona with the first technical developments. This could change the hierarchy again. The start of the European leg is always something of a second start to the Formula One season."
