Nick Heidfeld says he is 'pretty confident' of agreeing a new contract with the BMW Sauber F1 team for 2009 and beyond, despite mounting rumours that the team was looking at its options, and potentially interested even in Fernando Alonso.
Heidfeld's future was called into question by his poor qualifing form this season, although yesterday he managed to outqualify team mate Kubica.
"I am pretty confident and that's as much as I can say about my contract," Heidfeld told reporters at Spa. "We've been working on my qualifying problem in the team for a while and it doesn't really matter what the media has been saying."
"The most pressure I feel is from myself," he added. "I have very high demands of myself and if it's not working out, I'm not happy with myself, the rest doesn't have any influence."
"However, I think it's important for me to have a good result here, especially after Valencia which was very poor," he added.
