Di Resta still hopeful of F1 drive

02 January 2009

Mercedes' 22-year-old DTM driver Paul di Resta says he is still hopeful of securing an F1 drive for 2009, despite seeing his chances of being placed at Force India quashed when the team confirmed Fisichella and Sutil.

Di Resta was linked with the team once it concluded a deal with McLaren and Mercedes, but now it looks as though he would be lucky to do better than a test driver role.

"I know there's been a lot of speculation recently regarding where I'll be racing next year, and to be honest there's still a bit of talking to be done before I'll be able to confirm exactly what I'm going to be doing," di Resta said. "One important thing is that F1 remains a possibility."

"I'm not giving up on my dream of being on the F1 grid for the opening race of 2009, but if it doesn't happen this year, I'm confident it will happen soon," he added.
