The new Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi will be ready to host its first Formula One race on 1 November, organisers have stressed. Recent rumours have suggested that ongoing construction work at the venue may have been delayed by the current economic crisis.
"As tickets for the inaugural Abu Dhabi Grand Prix went on sale in this morning, Abu Dhabi Motorsports Management (ADMM) confirmed that progress on the construction of the Yas Marina Circuit is on track," a statement from the organisers rear. "There are no concerns regarding delivery deadlines."
Phillippe Gurdjian will continue to be part of the management team, focussing on the development of the circuit, following rumours that he may be changing roles to focus upon the building of Korea's first Formula One venue. Abu Dhabi's event marks the first to be hosted in the United Arab Emirates and will be the scene of this year's final Grand Prix.
