Alonso makes first Ferrari outing
16 November 2009 / PhotosFernando Alonso made his first public excursion with Ferrari on Sunday prior to joining the Italian team as of next season. The Spaniard took to the Ricardo Tormo circuit of Valencia, Spain as the Maranello squad's annual World Finals event took place outside of Italy for the first time.
Having launched the McLaren on the streets of Valencia when joining the Woking team in 2007, Alonso was on the outskirts of the city at the weekend to represent Ferrari for the first time. Still contracted to Renault until the end of 2009, however, the Oviedo man was constrained to wearing a red jumper as opposed to the official team wear being modelled by team-mate Felipe Massa.
"This is a very important day for me because I can understand what the world of Ferrari is really like," said Alonso, who was also accompanied by test drivers Luca Badoer and Giancarlo Fisichella to parade in front of over 17,000 spectators, mostly Spanish.
"In 2010 I hope to fight for the world title together with Felipe and that all the fans can be proud of us and our professionalism."
