Ex Williams pilot Rosberg has long since been tipped as a Brawn driver, with speculation only being strengthened by German Mercedes' acquisition of the Brackley-based team, which also places fellow countryman Nick Heidfeld as a leading contender for the second seat, although its occupant is not expected to be named on Monday.
In time for the 60th anniversary of Formula 1 next year, the silver arrows' return to the fray marks the first time the Stuttgart manufacturer will have run a works team since that spearheaded by Juan-Manuel Fangio, Stirling Moss, Piero Taruffi and Karl Kling in 1955.
Monday's announcement will come courtesy of Norbert Haug, the company's Vice President for Motorsport, and Nick Fry, team CEO, at 1pm German local time (GMT +1).
