Campos car passes FIA safety tests

24 November 2009

The cockpit of the first Formula 1 contender from Campos has met all FIA-required safety standards following its homologation in Italy last week. Representatives of the Paris-based governing body travelled to Parma in Italy, home of car builders Dallara.

With the Campos Meta team set to make its F1 debut in 2010, the necessary procedures were carried out on the car's safety cell at the Dallara factory. "The homologation of the cockpit is a critical point that defines the status and quality of a Formula 1 car," explained Toni Cuquerella, Campos Technical Director.

"The fact of having our cockpit completely homologised puts us in a privileged position and allows us to keep on developing the car. Dallara has done a great job in order to have everything on time and pass all the tests at the first attempt. We still have to pass the homologation of the rear structure, which follows the same process and has already passed our previous internal tests."

With Bruno Senna signed up as the team's first driver, things continue to take shape for the Madrid team which joins Manor, Lotus and USF1 as a 2010 debutant. "It's a great satisfaction to pass these homologation FIA tests," team owner Adrián Campos added. "It shows the technical strength of the partners and suppliers we have gathered.

"We still have a long journey in front of us but at this stage we are confident that we will be able to cover all the steps needed to make it to the inaugural weekend of the season in Bahrain."
