Donington Park leaseholders remain confident that the Leicestershire venue could still be host of the British Grand Prix from next season onwards. Currently cash-strapped, Donington Ventures Leisure Limited (DVLL) feel that the country's Formula 1 event can still make it to the East Midlands venue providing an investor is found.
With time being the greatest worry for the future of the British Grand Prix, Silverstone bosses have just over a fortnight remaining in which to finalise a deal with Bernie Ecclestone, F1 commercial rights holder; although Donington is seemingly out of the picture, Simon Gillett is confident that both circuits still hold equal chances.

"As far as I see it, there are two tracks competing, so in my mind that makes it 50-50," explained the owner of DVLL, which is currently in administration. "As Bernie said last week, if someone comes in now and invests in Donington, the chance is still there.
"The administrators are working hard and, if we had the money, we would have the 17-year agreement; there are half a dozen people interested at the moment, from different backgrounds, with different ideas and intentions. From a location and a fans' point of view, everything about Donington makes it a viable circuit."
