Pedro de la Rosa was present in the Spanish town of Boadilla del Monte last week in order to help McLaren sponsor Santander attract more attention towards the careers of rookie drivers from its home country.
With bank Santander having sponsored McLaren since 2007, the company run by Emilio Botín will branch out further next season by becoming title sponsor of the Ferrari team.

"Santander's support of young Spanish drivers is a fantastic initiative that really supports grassroots motorsport in Spain," McLaren reserve driver de la Rosa commented. "I'm proud to have been able to offer my experience and advice to everyone who attended the Santander event and I'm sure that all these guys will benefit tremendously from the support they were given today."
As proceedings came to a close, 16-year-old Mallorca driver Antonio Alarcon received a significant boost by being handed a motorsport scholarship to the value of €30,000 (£27,300). "I hope that Antonio is able to use his scholarship to benefit his career," Barcelona's Pedro added. "That level of support is simply invaluable when you are just starting out in the sport."
