Williams to name drivers 'in August'

Formula One team Williams has vowed to end speculation about who'll drive for the BMW-powered squad in August, a spokesman told this publication on Tuesday. Liam Clogger said the 'immediate priority' is making the FW26 quicker.

He continued from Grove's F1 headquarters: "This will be the biggest single incentive to securing a competitive driver line-up for next season and beyond."

Clogger confirmed that a lot depends on Ralf Schumacher. While Juan Pablo Montoya is signed as a McLaren pilot in 2005, the aforesaid German sibling is yet to decide whether his future is BMW or Toyota-powered. "We're waiting for [Ralf's position] to clear up," Liam told us. "We don't know if we're looking at one seat [to fill] or two. We're talking to lots of people just to see what their status is."

Jacques Villeneuve, whose private jet was definitely spotted at Paul Ricard on Monday, won eleven races for Williams in 1996 and 1997 and is a free agent.
