Formula One's future in Italy is in doubt. The country's federal health minister, Professor Girolamo Sirchia - a world-renowned immunologist - said cigarette advertising in F1 is a 'real scourge.'
Italy hosts two grands prix - at Imola and the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza.
Sirchia told a convention organised by the 'Italian League Against Tumours' that some advertising can 'easily be removed without causing damage' to the sector.
He said the government was considering trackside 'smoking kills' signs.
