Pedro de la Rosa will return to the wheel of McLaren's third car in Turkey this Friday. After test colleague Alex Wurz's recent stint, the Woking based team confirmed on Tuesday that 34-year-old de la Rosa, from Barcelona in Spain, would get another go.
Pedro visited the new 'Otodrom' facility in Istanbul earlier this season. "It looks like a great track," he said, "but we have no data. The process of selecting the correct tyre with Michelin on Friday will be particularly key."
Indeed, given the importance of the job on a new track, de la Rosa's appointment should be seen as a pat on the back from his McLaren paymasters. 'CEO F1' Martin Whitmarsh said Friday practice would involve 'additional set-up' work. "Pedro will be focusing solely on tyre choice," he added.
