Alain Prost returned to the Ferrari test-track on Tuesday. The four-times world champion, who raced scarlet Formula One cars in 1990 winning five races and finishing runner-up, turned laps in a new Maserati MC12.
Prost was fired in 1991 for criticising the Maranello-based team. But he nearly returned in 1996 when he offered to test Michael Schumacher's car. The Maserati MC12 was built for GT races, according to a Ferrari spokesman - 'I was down here to visit my friend Jean Todt,' said Prost, who's also a Frenchman.
He added: 'I jumped at the chance to try the car.' Prost, who ran the eponymous Guyencourt-based team until it failed in 2001, said it was 'emotional' coming back to Ferrari where he had 'unforgettable times.'
