Former F1 ace Ralph Firman has suffered another blow to his open-wheeler career. The Englishman, 28, has bowed out of the Spanish-based Nissan World Series.
''Naturally I am disappointed,'' said Ralph, who was replaced by pay-driver Giorgio Pantano at the Silverstone-based Jordan Grand Prix team this season. He added: ''We've been unable to find the necessary funding.''
Firman's agent confirmed he would focus on sports cars for the balance of 2004. He's already signed-up as a Le Mans starter for the 'Holland' squad, and Ralph will then turn his attention to a 'full time return' to single-seaters in '05. At Le Mans Firman will be joined by teammates Tom Coronel (NL) and former Minardi and Jaguar driver Justin Wilson (UK).
