Jaguar 'wade through data' - spokesman

27 May 2004

Jaguar waded through 'data from Monaco' in the week prior to Nurburgring. Australian team driver Mark Webber grappled with the plethora of problems that struck his R5 on the Monaco street-circuit, from fires to 'total shut down.' "Various areas did not perform as expected," said a spokesman.

But given the ultra-fast turnaround since Monaco, the R5s didn't return to the factory - Webber, however, did.  "I went back to the factory," he confirmed. "I wanted to speak with the team and help them work through the data."

Head of performance Mark Gillan confirmed that a 'few modifications' will hit the car this weekend prior to a four-day test session at the Silverstone track.

Tester Bjorn Wirdheim helped Webber work through the data. "And we've been in discussion with Christian [Klien] over the phone," added team managing director David Pitchforth, who said R5 'should go well' here.

Klien, 20, has won at Nurburgring in Formula BMW, Formula Renault and Formula Three.
