Bruni's qualifying time deleted

30 May 2004

Minardi's Gianmaria Bruni has been moved to the back of the grid. Stewards at the Nurburgring said the Roman exited pitlane in Saturday's pre-qualifying session when the red lights were on, a breach of Article 158.

His grid time must 'be deleted,' a statement confirmed.

Meanwhile, Mark Webber 'accepted' the decision of the Stewards to add a second to his qualifying time for speeding past an incident despite waved yellow flags.

''I maintain that I did slow [down],'' said the Aussie. But his sector time was quicker than any previous ones.

Jaguar's Mark Webber retorted: ''The car was just working better. It's a long sector so the effect of slowing for one flag doesn't show up so much.''
