Jaguar's results making sponsors unhappy?
02 June 2004HSBC 'are disappointed' with Formula One team Jaguar. The racing world already knows, of course, after bank chief Sir John Bond said a contract with first Stewart and now the Leaping Cat had 'served its purpose.' But now Jaguar admits $30 million sponsor HSBC are indeed unhappy.
Team principal Tony Purnell said 'all the big cheeses' were at Monaco as spectators before rookie Christian Klien' put his R5 racer into the wall. A few laps later, Mark Webber's green car rolled to a halt. "Motor racing turns on these small things," Purnell admitted.
"[But] no matter how grim it seems now, it will turn around."
