Easing British Grand Prix road congestion with a new traffic plan is 'one ingredient' to ensuring that Silverstone hosts Formula One into the future. That's the belief of circuit-owning British Racing Drivers' Club president Sir Jackie Stewart, who said the track has a 'great [traffic] package' for '04.
Further to plans to close Northampton's A43 to non-race traffic on the Friday (July 9) of '04 GP weekend is a 'one-way' system on the M40 and M1 roads.
All four lanes of the dual carriageway A43 will also be available for ticket-holders, according to new media reports, and local traffic will be diverted. "It eliminates a risk and an unnecessary hazard," Sir Jackie commented.
