Zanardi: Ralf is lucky to be alive

Ralf Schumacher is lucky to be alive. The German's '99 team-mate Alex Zanardi, who lost both legs in a similarly horrific CART smash, said RS should thank the stars for a couple of fractures.

"[Ralf's crash] could have been fatal," the Italian told 'People.' "He crashed where no-one expected him to so that's why just a wall was there to take the impact. He's lucky to come away with what are only minor injuries."
