Da Matta calls on Toyota for 2005 decision

Da Matta has been good, but not great

Cristiano da Matta is pressuring Toyota to reveal who will be Ralf Schumacher's '05 Formula One team-mate ahead of time, the Brazilian explained at Silverstone. Technical director Mike Gascoyne said earlier in the weekend that Cologne or Tokyo probably won't make a decision until 'late' in the current racing season.

''I hope ... it comes much earlier,'' da Matta told Reuters.

Cristiano, who won the '02 CART series but has failed to light the tracks in two grand prix seasons, said if he loses the drive he needs time to 'make plans.

''I don't have any other offers [in F1],'' he admitted.

Reports indicate a return to the American scene, like the oval-based Indy Racing League. ''Tomorrow,'' he replied when asked when a decision should be made.
