Firman keeping fit for F1 return

09 August 2004

Ralph Firman hopes to swim, run and cycle his way back into Formula One. The Englishman, who lost his Jordan drive last season, said he is using '04 to 'regroup' and work towards a return to the pinnacle of motor sport next year.

He did a 50km triathlon recently in London. "For F1, you need to be in top condition," he said. "So a triathlon is good from that perspective."

Firman, who could not complete a full World Nissan campaign this year, has made his way down to South Africa on Monday for Minardi's Kyalami two-seater event.

Also in action is former CART and Minardi ace Christian Fittipaldi, who had an off-track moment, and Williams' Marc Gene, who gave his fiancé a ride in the F1.
