Six-time world champion Michael Schumacher on Thursday raised his helmet in salute to another great champion - the late Ayrton Senna. "No one impressed me more than Ayrton," the Ferrari ace said. "I'm still astonished by the way he handled the car, his absolute driving control and by his unique style."
Schumacher was passing judgement on the Brazilian champion who suffered a fatal crash 10 years ago in an interview with Italian daily L'Unita. Senna's feat of capturing 65 pole positions is the only record Schumacher has yet to equal.
The German driver was modest about his success. "Everyone rates me as the best, but I've never said that to anyone - not to my friends, not to journalists."
Schumacher chases a record-breaking 12th success of the season in Hungary on Sunday.
