'I tried to call da Matta' - Zonta

Ricardo Zonta tried to call compatriot and friend Cristiano da Matta after he was dumped as Toyota race driver. The Brazilian said Cristiano is a 'very nice guy. "Of course I feel sorry," said the former 'Friday' tester, who at Spa will race for the second time as Olivier Panis' team-mate.

"I have a good relationship with [Cristiano] but F1 is sometimes like that.  I tried to call him but I cannot get an answer yet."

Zonta, who last drove in Belgium for BAR in 2000, believes the 'B spec' Toyota charger will go well on the seven-kilometre circuit. "First, the car should just be suited here," he said.

"But Spa also really highlights the strengths and weaknesses of a driver and his car.  I hope I have a chance to score a point."
