Minardi sign-up Russian bank sponsorship

The Minardi team today announced that an important commercial agreement has been reached between the team and Mr Alexey Zborovskiy, manager of the Russian driver, Sergey Zlobin. The SMP Commercial Bank, which belongs to the Russian Bank Association based in Moscow, will support the Russian driver's 2004 testing programme, which is due to start at the beginning of September, and will continue through November and December.

Team Principal, Paul Stoddart, comments, "Minardi welcomes such commercial involvement, particularly if, in this case, the support of the SMP Commercial Bank can eventually assist a Russian driver to join the ranks of Formula One. We fully endorse what we believe is a very worthy goal, and congratulate SMP on its decision to become involved in this way."
