Schumi disappointed to miss out
28 August 2004 / Results / PhotosMichael Schumacher seemed a touch disappointed to have missed out on pole position in this afternoon's wet qualifying session. The German seemed slightly defensive and was not his usual satisfied self in the post qualifying press conference.
"That's the way it is - it's a lottery in a way," said Schumacher who was last to run in the session and following a downpour could not beat Jarno Trulli's pole time. "With just ten minutes to the end we had a splash of rain which wasn't meant to be. We are second, on the front row and we can be happy."
"We have a big challenge ahead of us tomorrow - we know both Renault's are good starters so we hope we can get away well and see how the race goes," he added. "My lap wasn't so fantastic - I struggled a bit in turn five and got a bit sideways and towards the end it got a bit tricky. I didn't have the traction out of the last corner like Renault in those conditions so I couldn't get it."
"But we shouldn't be too unhappy - for the conditions that was a very good lap to get that result," he concluded.
