Mercedes boss happy with new car progress

05 February 2005

Mercedes motorsport boss Norbert Haug was pleased with the progress McLaren has made since launching its new MP4-20. This week the team tested with two MP4-20 cars in Valencia.

"Our team had three productive test days," he said. "Alex was concentrating mainly on tyre testing. Kimi experienced some good steps forward in improving the performance of the MP4-20. I wouldn't read too much into the lap times, but we are pleased with the progress we have made with the new MP4-20 so far."

"There is still a lot of work to do in our next tests at Jerez and Barcelona," he added as the new season starts in just one month.
