Berger hints at possible F1 return

10 February 2005

Former GP winner Gerhard Berger might soon be ready to return to the F1 paddock. The 45-year-old, who left a role as joint BMW motor sport director in September 2003, said he's spent the time away from racing 'refreshing my brain' and getting business and family life back on track.

He said: ''Maybe soon I'll be hungry again for a job in racing.''

But Austria's Berger, remember, recently turned down a job at friend Dieter Mateschitz's new 'Red Bull' team.

He probably, though, won't resume the post alongside Mario Theissen, after criticising Williams' engine partner for allowing the recent driver 'turmoil' - like the loss of both Ralf Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya and the late naming of Mark Webber's teammate - to occur.
