Imola Day 1: Massa sets pace

Felipe Massa set the pace on the opening day of testing this weekend at Imola in northern Italy. The Brazilian was testing new aerodynamics - including a number of front wings for the Sauber team during a sunny but cold day.

| Vlleneuve in action |
Massa put in 106 laps - his best in1m23.485s. He finished 0.3s ahead of team mate Jacques Villeneuve who was working on traction control development for the Swiss team.
Minardi was also in action with new driver Patrick Friesacher finishing 0.1s ahead of Christijan Albers. Between them the pair covered 106 laps for the Italian team.
Testing continues tomorrow at Imola.
