Minardi not worried about Haider
19 February 2005 |
| Haider and Friesacher |
Minardi does not have any problems with driver Patrick Friesacher's sponsor Jörg Haider, the team has claimed. The politician is known for being a right-wing extremist and caused a shock in Europe when he won the election in Austria a couple of years ago.
At the moment Haider is the leader of Austrian province Karinthië. This is the province where Patrick Friesacher comes from and Haider tries to promote his province by using Minardi's new driver. During Minardi's presentation in Austria Paul Stoddart, Patrick Friesacher and Jörg Haider were pictured smiling with each other, which caused a few concerned looks around the place.
Minardi though doesn't see any harm in Haider's history. "F1 is not about politics, we have our own politics," a Minardi spokesperson explained to F1Racing.net.
