Jerez Day 3: Zonta fastest in Jerez

Ricardo Zonta and Ralf Schumacher began testing with Toyota on Thursday at a dusty track. Zonta set the quickest lap time at 1.15.708. The Renault team also joined the teams at Jerez. The team brought both Montagny and young talent Heikki Kovailainen.

Ralf Schumacher replaced Olivier Panis. The Frenchman was scheduled to test in Jerez from Thursday till Saturday but is still a bit sick. Ralf Schumacher was the only driver in Jerez who raced in Melbourne. Many other drivers enjoy a holiday in Australia or Malaysia at this moment.

Testing wasn't easy in Jerez. There is construction work in progress at the track, which makes the track very dusty. Luca Badoer joined Marc Gene in Jerez. Last week the Italian was testing in Italy for the Ferrari team but can now continue his development work in Spain. Davidson and Bernoldi continued testing for BAR. Williams reserve driver Pizzonia also showed up in Jerez. He set the slowest lap time though today: 1.18.592
