The BMW WilliamsF1 was alone in action today at the tight and twisty Vallelunga circuit in Italy. The team worked on set-up of its FW27 cars in preparation for the forthcoming Monaco Grand Prix. It was a warm but overcast day which was interrupted by a brief shower during the lunch break. Test driver Antonio Pizzonia set the pace around the 3.243km circuit while Andy Priaulx was a second slower.
"This is the first time the team has tested at Vallelunga and it's always interesting to come somewhere new," noted test team manager Tim Newton. "The circuit in Italy bears the closest resemblance to Monaco, the next race on the calendar. Antonio worked on set-ups and tyre casing tests while Andy worked on start settings and cooling tests. The pair completed nearly 900 kilometers. On his first day in the FW27, Andy did a good job for the team, especially considering he won the 24-hours race at the weekend and will be at Snetterton for the next two days testing. Mark Webber will be taking over from Andy tomorrow to join Antonio for the second of a three day test."
