Irvine could become F1 team boss
21 May 2005Eddie Irvine has claimed he could slide into the role of F1 boss. The outspoken former driver, at Monaco for talks with the progressively indifferent Jordan team owner Alex Shnaider, is backed by another Russian businessman, vodka and banking tycoon Roustam Tariko. Ireland's Irvine told BBC radio: "I've seen the best in Jean Todt, and the worst in Ford. Ford showed me how to make mistakes."
Shnaider insisted the story is 'only a rumour', but - funnily enough - so too did 39-year-old millionaire Irvine. "Formula One is a bit exciting this year isn't it?" he laughed coyly. "A lot of rumours going around."
Irvine said: "Formula One needs colour, like Eddie Jordan, but it got a bit sad, a bit like the old film star still going to the parties."
