Gené outpaces Massa at Monza

02 June 2005 / Results / Photos

Ferrari test driver Marc Gené outpaced Sauber Petronas driver Felipe Massa by half a second on the second day of testing this week at Monza, Italy. Gené and Massa were the only two drivers in action today.

Gené was working mainly on tyre testing while Massa's focus was set-up work and tyre testing for the US Grand Prix at Indianapolis. It was a hot and sunny day at the circuit with air temperature reaching 29 degrees Centigrade.

"Today Felipe ran the scheduled medium downforce programme in preparation for the forthcoming two North American races, whereby the focus was on the United States Grand Prix," Sauber's chief race engineer Jacky Eeckelaert explained. "Tomorrow he will verify the gathered aerodynamic data for us, but will also further work with Michelin on the tyre selection for Indianapolis."
