Panis in Montreal

08 June 2005

Former grand prix driver Olivier Panis will be a familiar face in the F1 paddock at Montreal. The Frenchman - who broke his legs at the circuit in 1997 - raced a Toyota in Canada last year, but has since slipped into a second test driver role behind 'man Friday' Ricardo Zonta.

But OP, nearing his thirty ninth birthday, has flown to North America for the popular event so he can 'fully reacquaint with the race team,' a Toyota document revealed.

'Olly' will make a one off appearance as Friday driver at Magny Cours early next month. "In the past, we've enjoyed a reasonable level of performance at Montreal," technical director Mike Gascoyne said of the impending event.

"We have to look to get a strong podium finish."
