BAR line up Davidson heir

09 June 2005

Britain's Adam Carroll is front of the queue to become BAR's next official test driver. If Jenson Button moves to Williams, and Anthony Davidson inherits the race gong, Brackley will install one of its 'young development' group in the seat.

James Rossiter, Alan van der Merwe and Danilo Dirani are all flaunted as possibilities.

But 22-year-old Carroll, already a winner in the GP2 support category, is earmarked by BAR programme coordinator Jock Clear as a standout. "He is clearly talented, quick and seriously sharp," Jock Clear - also Takuma Sato's race engineer - told British magazine Motorsport News.

He said: "Jenson's position is not particularly clear and Anthony deserves a chance to drive."
