Irvine back in Formula 1

12 June 2005 / Photos

For the first time since October 2002 Eddie Irvine got back in a Formula 1 car. The Ulsterman was invited for the Marlboro Masters at the Dutch Zandvoort track to get into a Ferrari F1 car for a number of demonstration laps. Irvine got the chance to drive the F2001.

"I was surprised how fast the (Ferrari F1) car was, the acceleration was really impressive," Irvine told F1Racing.net in an exclusive interview after his demonstration laps. "This car was slower then my last Jaguar. Surely, this surprise is mainly caused because I haven't been in a Formula 1 car for three years now, but still it feels very impressive. It makes you realize why F1 is so amazing. I had to be careful but I pushed a little bit."

The full interview with Eddie Irvine will be available next week.
