Wurz fastest in first practice

McLaren's third driver Alexander Wurz was Friday's fastest driver in the first free practice session. The Austrian was over half a second faster than Toyota's third driver Ricardo Zonta and more than a second faster than Kimi Räikkönen.

Nicolas Kiesa made his Formula One return at Jordan. He signed a one-race deal as Jordan's third driver. Robert Doornbos made the switch from Jordan's third driver to Minardi's second driver. Doornbos covered 17 laps in the Minardi in first practice.
