Raikkonen dominates final practice

23 July 2005 / Results

Kimi Raikkonen dominated final practice at Hockenheim on Saturday finishing 0.3s ahead of team mate Juan Pablo Montoya and 0.6s ahead of championship rival Fernando Alonso. The second Renault of Fisichella was fourth.

The sun continued to shine and air temperature increased to 21 degrees Centigrade. Jenson Button showed an encouraging pace for BAR Honda in fifth ahead of an improved performance for Williams with Webber in sixth and Heidfeld eighth.

Michael Schumacher clawed his way up the order but all he could manage was the seventh fastest time while team mate Barrichello languished in fifteenth behind Villeneuve and Massa. Schumacher did go off track at one point, but recovered without sustaining any damage.

Christian Klien also ran off the track near the end of the session, but avoided damaging his Red Bull and set the ninth fastest time.
