Button wants to stay with BAR - team boss

25 July 2005

Jenson Button wants to stay at BAR Honda next season rather than move to Williams, BAR team boss Nick Fry has said. Wiliams has a long-term contract with Button and is talking a tough game saying they expect Button to be racing with them next season, but BAR is hopeful of striking some kind of deal with Williams.

"Jenson wants to stay here, but the ball is in his court to sourt if out with Williams," Fry said.

Fry went on to say that while Button may have a contract which Williams could choose to enforce, it wouldn't make sense if he didn't want to race for that team.

"I certainly wouldn't want any employee, let alone a driver in my team who didn't want to be here," Fry added. "The driver is the pivotal role in the team and if they're not fully motivated and don't want to be at a particular team, then they're not going to do anything to the best of their ability."
