Barrichello offered 'multi-year' deal

Rubens Barrichello has been offered a multi-year deal by the team he will join for 2006, Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has revealed. Ferrari has since announced that Barrichello will be replaced by Felipe Massa.

"We gave Rubens the possibility of accepting an offer of a multi-year contract, longer than the length of his relationship with us," Montezemolo told Ferrari's web site. Barrichello had another year left to run on his Ferrari contract but is now expected to join BAR Honda.

An announcement from BAR Honda is expected in the near future.
