Montoya improves speed record at Monza

25 August 2005 / Results / Photos

Juan Pablo Montoya was not only the fastest man going round on Thursday in Monza; he also improved the fastest speed with a Formula One car ever driven at Monza. His top speed was set at 367 km/h. His team mate Kimi Räikkönen set the second fastest lap time, while Alonso was third.

The third day of testing at Monza was very clouded, but warm. Rain was expected in the afternoon but fortunately for the teams it remained dry. Luca Badoer had a tyre problem in the afternoon when he blew up his tyre at the straight in Monza.

The Toyota team continued testing their V8 engine. Olivier Panis covered 29 laps without any major problems. Tiago Monteiro continued testing for the Jordan team. In the afternoon Nicolas Kiesa took over until 17.00. The final hour the car was steered around the track by Jordan's test driver Nicky Pastorelli.
